The following is only meant to be a guide. You should consult your owner’s manual for the correct way to turn off your machine and all other procedures.

1.     Paper jam-

Try printing from the multipurpose drawer (tray 1 on some printers)

Reload the paper and adjust paper guides.

Open all drawers, doors, remove toner cartridge and check for debris.

Ensure there is proper clearance behind printer (the paper drawer may hit the wall behind the printer).

Check the size of paper indicated on the control panel and make sure that it matches the size you are using.

Make sure the paper type indicated on your printer’s display matches the paper being used.

Replace the toner cartridge (a broken drum gear on the cartridge can cause paper jams).

2.     Poor print quality-

Remove and reinstall the toner cartridge or drum unit

Replace the toner cartridge or drum unit (Sometimes you can see the defect on the drum of the toner or imaging cartridge)

Make sure the paper type indicated on your printer’s display matches the paper being used (Using heavy weight paper without adjusting the settings on the machine can cause print defects)

3.     Noise –

Change the toner cartridge. Some models have a fuser unit that is customer replaceable. You can try changing it if you have an extra one, or one from another machine

4.     Cannot print-

Can any other computer in the office print? If so, there is an issue with one computer, Check “See what’s printing on computer”, delete all print jobs and try again.

Turn power off, unplug power and network cable or usb cable. Plug in power cord only and turn back on. Print a test page from the printer’s control panel. Plug in the network cable or usb cable and try printing again.

5.     Error Code-

Turn power off, unplug power and network cable or usb cable. Open the paper drawers, any doors, remove toner cartridge and check for debris. Plug in power cord only and turn back on. (Copiers - Open and close front door)

6.     No Display-

Turn power off, unplug power and network cable or usb cable.

Plug in power cord only and turn back on. (Copiers – add open and close front door)
